Vice Sheet - July 2002
by Sallie Banko, Region 2 RVC
The AG this year was most definitely a success! The hotel was outstanding with the staff being both accommodating and friendly, hospitality was more than adequate and the programs (at least the ones I was able to attend) interesting. If you did not attend, you definitely missed out on a great time!

I did take some pictures, but to see over 400 photos of Mensans having fun go to: www.or.us.mensa.org/pix/ag2002/rainey/2/index.htm (Thanks go to Scott Rainey, RVC8, for these.)

Results of the Publications Recognition Program can be found at us.mensa.org/best_of/2002printwinners.php

And now on to my notes on the AMC meeting. Please note that these are only highlights of those things which I believe to be of interest to those in our region. They are by no means complete; a more complete report is given in the mini-minutes.

AMC had a difficult task set before it based on the Hearings Committee's decision and recommendation in reference to charges brought against Carole Bell. The Hearings Committee rendered a unanimous decision that Ms Bell did commit an act inimical to Mensa, and by a 2-1 decision, recommended expulsion from the society. The AMC voted to accept this decision (15 for, 4 against, 1 recusal, 1 abstention) by secret ballot as is called for in our bylaws.

Yet another referendum will be added to the next election - this one involves a change of wording in reference to the timing of publication of referenda. (It would change the wording from a time schedule based on the number of days to a time schedule based on the number of issues.

Appointments: Nancy Farrar (MWM) was added to the national Nominating Committee. G Frank Lawlis replaces Dr Abbie Salny as American Mensa's Supervisory Psychologist.

The proposed Internet Services Policies and Guidelines was adopted.

If anyone would like more details or has any questions about this meeting, please do not hesitate to contact me.
