Mensa Logo Vice Sheet - February 2002
by Sallie Banko, Region 2 RVC

Just a few things this month.

Anyone interested in becoming involved in an Inkslinger project? This is one way that a local group can do something quick, easy, and rewarding! For those who are not sure what this is, Inkslinger started out as an effort to help restock the books for libraries in the Midwest that had been devastated by the floods that were occurring at that time. It quickly became a national effort and started to involve other libraries. Then it branched off to include institutions of various sorts. I've heard of individual local projects that included places such as Juvenile treatment facilities and/or detention centers, alternative educational schools, specific school programs, prisons, retirement homes and/or communities. New or used books in good condition are collected and donated to the library/program/institution of your choice. And the nice thing is you don't have to do it alone! Marc Lederman is the person in charge nationally, and he is most willing to help anyone who may want to take part in this program. Sounds like something you may want to do? Just want more info? Contact Marc at Inkslinger@us.mensa.org.

If you have not done so already, don't forget to renew! (Unless you have a life membership, like I do) And just to make it easier, you can do so online. Not only is it quicker for you, but online renewals are easier and faster to process.

I know it's been mentioned elsewhere, but I also wanted to bring your attention to the new PDQ. The options for release of information have been expanded to more accurately reflect each member's preferences. Please make sure to read through these carefully so that your personal preferences are accurately recorded.

I'd like to end with a personal thanks to all of you who volunteered to help out with the regional scholarship judging this year. I received over 50 offers! I was overwhelmed. Thanks - I needed that!
