As I write my
first RVC column, the votes are being tabulated for American Mensa's
election. The new AMC will take office in July, so I really don't have
much to tell you other than to introduce myself. In my thirteen years as
a Mensan, I have been a member of Mensa of the Southern Tier of New
York, Central Pennsylvania Mensa, and currently Metropolitan Washington
Mensa. I have served at various times as LocSec, Editor, Treasurer,
Webmaster, Proctor, and RG Chair. At the national level I have served as
CultureQuest® VII Coordinator, Project Inkslinger® Coordinator, and am
wrapping up my second term as Publication Recognition Program (PRP)
Chair. I am currently a member of the Communications Committee, working
on COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) and a new project to
create a searchable database of InterLoc articles. The agenda for the
July AMC meeting will be published sometime around June 18. I leave for
the AG on July 6, so please contact me before then if you have any
comments or questions on the agenda or any other Mensa matters. If
anybody wants to meet me at the AG, please let me know and I'll try to
set something up. The easiest way to reach me is by email (marc@paonline.com)
or phone in the evenings (717-308-1221). An effective RVC will
communicate with the members, listen to their wishes, and help when
needed. I look forward to continuing to work for Mensa and Region 2 by
serving as RVC.
